All new organizations receive $75 of free credit. Credits are shared across all users within an organization and are valid for both Playground and API usage.

Credits are issued for each organization. New users users within an existing organization will not be granted additional free credits, and their usage will count towards the shared pool of free credits granted.

How do free credits work?

For the Generate and Embed endpoints, use of Cohere’s platform is charged on a per-character basis. Generate is charged based on the number of input and output characters, and Embed is charged based on the number of input characters.

For the Classify endpoint, usage is measured per text classified, regardless of text length. One API call with three texts to Classify is charged the same as three API calls each with one text to Classify.

Are there any account limitations upon signup?

Your model selection reflects your relative prioritization of model performance, speed, and pricing. Larger models offer better performance and are capable of more complex tasks, while smaller models have faster response times and are cheaper.

Which model should I pick?

Account owners have access to a billing tab within the Cohere Platform to track the spend and characters you’ve used in past and present billing cycles.

How can I track my spend?

Users are billed monthly, based on the initial signup date.

When do I get billed?

When you’re ready to add additional team members onto your Cohere account, navigate to the admin tab in 

, and scroll down to the invite window. Here, you’ll be able to create invites to your teammates. Note that API usage from all additional invited members will be billed to your account.
